End User Licence Agreement
Closed Beta • Last Updated: 15 September 2026
The short version. You may install and use the Relay beta app on your own devices, for as long as you are an invited tester. You may not redistribute it, sell it, or pull it apart. It is unfinished software with no warranty — install it knowing that.
1. This agreement
This End User Licence Agreement ("Licence") governs your installation and use of the Relay mobile application ("the App") distributed outside of any app store, whether downloaded from relay.africa, from our GitHub releases, or through Firebase App Distribution.
By installing or using the App you accept this Licence. If you do not accept it, do not install the App, and remove it if you already have.
This Licence covers the software. Your use of the Relay service is governed separately by our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
2. What you may do
Relay grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to:
- install the App on devices you own or control;
- use it for its intended purpose, as a participant in the Relay closed beta.
That is the whole grant. Relay retains all ownership of the App and everything in it.
3. What you may not do
- Redistribute, republish, mirror, sell, rent, sublicense or otherwise pass on the App or its installation file to anyone else. If someone else wants it, send them to the download page so they get an authentic, verifiable build.
- Modify, adapt, translate, decompile, disassemble or reverse-engineer the App, or attempt to derive its source code, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
- Remove or obscure any copyright, trade-mark or other proprietary notice.
- Repackage or re-sign the App, or distribute a modified build under the Relay name.
- Use the App to break the law, or to attack, probe or disrupt Relay's systems or other users.
4. Beta software — read this before installing
The App is pre-release beta software. It is incomplete, it will contain defects, and its behaviour may change without notice between builds. Features may be added, altered or withdrawn. Beta data may be reset.
Because it is distributed outside an app store, your device will warn you before installing from an unknown source. That warning is normal for direct distribution — but it exists for a good reason, so verify the SHA-256 checksum published on our download page against the file you downloaded before installing.
5. Updates
Because the App is not distributed through an app store, it will not update itself automatically when installed from a direct download. You are responsible for installing newer builds. Relay may stop supporting older builds at any time, and an outdated build may stop working against our servers.
6. No warranty
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Relay does not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or compatible with your device.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Relay is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of the App, including lost data, lost income or device problems. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing here limits or replaces the liability terms in our Terms of Service.
8. Data
The App collects and transmits personal information, including identity documents, a selfie, and GPS location during active jobs. What is collected, who sees it, and how long it is kept — including the fact that job records are permanent and cannot be deleted — is set out in the Privacy Policy. Read it before installing.
9. Termination
This Licence ends automatically if you breach it, if your Relay account is suspended or banned, or when the closed beta ends. On termination you must stop using the App and remove it from your devices. Sections 6, 7 and 8 survive termination.
10. Relationship to the repository licence
Relay's public source repositories carry their own proprietary licence covering the source code. This Licence is what grants you the right to install and run the compiled application; the repository licence neither grants nor removes that right.
11. Governing law
This Licence is governed by the laws of Zimbabwe.
